How to Have Your Cake, and Business Too

The other day, I was on a call with several successful female business owners; they were talking about the marketing strategies, processes, and procedures they want to implement this year to quantum leap their businesses. It was interesting to observe the course of those conversations.

One woman in particular stood out. She claimed that specific strategies had helped her business grow in the past, but then vulnerably shared minutes later how burnt out and overwhelmed she feels; she mentioned that her work consumes her too much and that she struggles to find time for her family! The idea of growing the business even bigger seemed exhausting, instead of exciting.

And this is a very common paradox I hear in my conversations with business leaders. The challenge to keep all of the balls in the air can prevent us from daring to want more. It always seems that when we focus on one thing, other things in our life suffer, making success feel like a tradeoff. But why is that?

It's because we have been conditioned to associate hard work with success- the work must feel hard in order for the success to maintain its value. It is because we have been taught that success requires sacrifice- we must give up one thing, to have another.

But is that really the truth? Or is that your truth?

As the saying goes, “Whether you think you can or you think you can’t, you’re right”. And the same is true of your core beliefs. Whatever you believe, whatever you think, is true. It is your truth.

What if it could be different? What if you could have a successful business, more time for your family, more time for yourself, and feel fulfilled and accomplished all at the same time?

Now I know what you might be thinking- Mili, this is a fantasy!

But what if I told you it’s true? What if I told you I know people, I have worked with people, who live this reality every day? So why couldn’t it be your reality too?

That one thing that is standing in your way, the one thing that is not allowing you to grow your business and live the life you want to live, is YOU: your mindset, your beliefs about success, your beliefs about the wealth, your beliefs about the money, your beliefs about time, your beliefs about what makes a strong leader, your beliefs about yourself and your abilities.

These beliefs show up for us every single day. They show up in the decisions we make or don’t make. They show up in the risks we take or don’t take. They show up in the discipline we have or don’t have, in the curiosities we pursue or don’t pursue, and so on and so on. It is through these beliefs we construct our reality.

And all the strategies and processes in the world won’t work without you having the right mindset!

One of my coaches once said: Success is 5% strategy, and 95% mindset. And it’s true. All of the strategies and processes in the world won’t work with a limited mindset.

This is why, in my work with business leaders, I always begin with mindset- because the hardest thing to do, yet the most critical, is change the way we think! As Bob Proctor once said: “Only 1% of people think, 2% of people think that they think, and 97% of people, if they knew what they were thinking, would be speechless!”

Creating awareness around our thoughts and beliefs, and then changing those thoughts and beliefs, takes time. It requires quiet and stillness- not exactly readily available when we are in a constant state of do-and-go mode. And even when you make the time to pause from running around so you can sit quietly and think about what you want to experience in your life and business, your logical mind plays games with you. Your deep rooted beliefs create thoughts such as “I don’t have enough time” , “Who am I to go after that goal” or “Money is always so hard to come by”.

The human mind is a powerful software; it is a software that you have to program to work for you, to think the thoughts and foster the beliefs that align with your goals and your vision for the future.

Are you ready to upgrade your software? Are you ready to shift your beliefs and your truth so you can construct a reality that fulfills and excites you? It is perhaps the one strategy you may not have considered, and yet the strategy that can yield the most abundance, success, and possibility in your business and your life.

If you’re ready to take action towards the life you want, I invite you to learn more about how my interactive program can support you in rebooting your software, your business, and your life!
